SONGS YOU SHOULD HEAR: SEVEN CITIES DEAD – “COURAGE UNDER FIRE”
ARTIST: Seven Cities Dead
SONG: “Courage Under Fire”
SOUNDS LIKE: Explosive metalcore for fans of Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Trivium, Slipknot
ABOUT THE TRACK: With a name referencing Dante’s Inferno and a sound reminiscent of Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying, Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s Seven Cities Dead is a Metalcore powder keg ready to explode. Their brand new single, “Courage Under Fire,” features the high energy riffs, dual guitar leads, heavy breakdowns and empowering lyrics that have been the band’s foundation.
The track, along with the rest of the upcoming EP Cold Blooded, was recorded at Andrew Wade’s Audio Compound (A Day To Remember, Neck Deep, Wage War) in Florida. “We believe this EP is a step up from our first EP in every aspect,” says the band, “from writing and musicianship to production and presentation! Working with Andy Karpovck (producer) really took us to the next level.”
Seven Cities Dead has also released an accompanying music video for “Courage Under Fire.” The video features a man revisiting his childhood home and reliving painful memories. “It’s a personal story for our singer Josh,” the band explains, “his son, sister and brother in law appear as actors in the video.” The group is hopeful that the message of the song and video have an impact on their fans. “We hope to relate to people in similar situations and encourage them to find the strength to break the cycles in their own lives.”
