REMEMBER ME WHEN RELEASE DEEPLY PERSONAL NARRATIVE ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TITLED “WALK AWAY”

Washington newcomers Remember Me When have released their incredibly powerful and vulnerable debut single/video “Walk Away.” The track takes on a deeply personal narrative detailing vocalist Brendan Lutmer witnessing, along with his younger siblings, his mother’s suffering through an abusive relationship. “Unfortunately, domestic violence is a very real thing and it can impact the ones we love the most,” Lutmer shares. “It can happen to those we never believed it would happen to.”

“My mother is the most lovely person on this planet, and to watch her go through such horrific violence was troubling—not only for me, but for my younger brother, Chandler, and my younger sister, Bailey,” Lutmer continues. “I remember many nights sheltering my siblings in my room afraid of the screaming and the noises of things or people being thrown around the house, praying to no one that it would stop.”

While the track offers a very unfortunate and horrific circumstance that Lutmer experienced throughout most of his childhood, it also aims to offer hope to those who simply need to walk away from the tragedy and abuse that’s unfolding around them. The coinciding video for “Walk Away”, directed by Kendall Johns, is simple, depicting the five-piece in an abandoned home, acting as a metaphor for the loneliness and destruction that is created by domestic violence.

“The world tells you to ‘stick it out’ and to ‘never give up’ on your family,” Lutmer continues. “But at that point in my life, I simply could not take it anymore. I knew my only option was to no longer see the bruises, hear the screaming, and see the violence. I simply had to ‘Walk Away.’ It was the toughest decision I have ever had to make and thankfully it didn’t last forever. I will [always] look up to her for finally standing up and saying that enough was finally enough. Today my siblings and I are stronger for the things we went through and our relationship with each other, and my mother has never been stronger. I love you, Mom. Never forget who you are.”

The video for “Walk Away” was directed by Kendall Johns, while the track was produced by Scott Kaleo and mixed and mastered by Cameron Mizell.
