EXECUTION DAY RETURNS WITH MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS TRACK “SUFFOCATE”

Fresh off rotation from Sirius XM Octane, a tour with I, The Breather, and a gig with Attack Attack!, metalcore quartet Execution Day is back with their first new release of 2022.

Beginning with a cinematic tone that feels like you’re firing up the latest Avengers flick, “Suffocate” launches into a marching wall of distorted guitars and commanding vocals. It all builds up to Dylan Dively’s cathartic words “I’m sick and tired of living in my head” in the anthemic chorus.

It’s appropriate timing for the release of the new track as May is Mental Health Awareness month, a cause the band has been longtime advocates of, dating back to their 2017 viral cover of Logic’s “1-800-273-8255.”

Suffocate is a song trying to embody how it feels to be crippled with anxiety and the drowning feeling that is often associated with it,” says vocalist Dylan Dively.  “The song is a self reflection of trying to understand those feelings and trying to figure out how to overcome them. Living with chronic anxiety is not something that is easy to cope with and this song is there for others to realize that they are not going it alone. We are all constantly trying to figure out ourselves and better ourselves every day and understanding and overcoming these things is another step in life

Formed outside of Pittsburgh in 2015, Execution Day brings something different and unique to the metalcore/alternative world. Execution Day has always wanted to write music that was unique to them, and had a sound all their own. Consisting of members Alec Coslow, Dylan Dively, John Halstead and Chad Sutliff, the band takes influences from many genres and makes music that is completely their own.
