Today, emerging Emo Grunge act NUMBFLOWER make their debut with the release of their single, “Lead.” This track blends evocative emo vocals with a driving instrumental that is both nostalgic and refreshing. Following “Lead,” NUMBFLOWER will continue to captivate listeners with a series of forthcoming singles that promise to redefine the boundaries of their genre.
NUMBFLOWER Bio:
Formed in 2023 in Long Island, NY, NUMBFLOWER emerges as a dynamic gateway to the iconic 90s Grunge and 2000s Emo Alt Rock scenes. The band masterfully intertwines the raw energy of grunge with a richly textured ambient sound, driven by powerful guitar riffs, intense vocals, and electrifying drums. NUMBFLOWER began as a creative venture by Dj Deane (vocals) and Dan LeBrun (guitar), who crafted the initial songs towards the end of their previous project, Hold Fast Hope. These early tracks were recorded and produced by their long-time friend, Nicholas Starrantino of Deadend Studio. However, feeling that the new material diverged from their prior work, Dj and Dan expanded their vision by welcoming Nick DiMarco (drums) and Tom Martins (bass) into the fold, thus solidifying the formation of NUMBFLOWER. The band is poised to release a series of six singles spanning late 2024 and early 2025, drawing influences from contemporary acts like Movements, Basement, and Title Fight, while paying homage to the grunge legends Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots.
Brian Dowling (Prairie Fire) on “Lead” feature:
Brian Dowling of Prairie Fire “When Dan and DJ asked me to contribute vocals on this song I was honored. I tried to do justice to the part by conveying an emotion of frustration and apathy. When I first listened to the track it reminded me of a spiral – each voice playing their part, singing a siren song into the void to one another that the other could not comprehend. The defeating realization that the inches have become miles and we are too far to be brought back together. Dj, Dan, and Nick with Deadend Studio did a great job illustrating the vision and it was nice to get the gang back together to work on something reminiscent of a decade earlier. DJ had helped me record extra guitars with Nick at VuDu Studios for the first Crash The Calm record, and coming together now felt full circle. NUMBFLOWER is a band to watch out for and I can’t wait to share all the things they’ve shared with me already.” – Brian
NUMBFLOWER on upcoming single “Lead”:
“”There’s no true backstory, the song felt like a culmination of everyone I’ve ever dated who had difficulty communicating their wants and needs. I think sometimes we forget that no matter how close we are with someone they still are a separate entity filled with their own insecurities, fears and challenges. I just think that everyone goes through this kind of pain at some point in their life and sometimes it hurts to let someone you love go because they’re not healthy for themselves or you.” -DJ
