Crystal Joilena Transcends The Boundaries of Dark Pop With “I’ll Never Let Us Die”
New York-based dark alternative artist Crystal Joilena has just dropped her newest track, “I’ll Never Let Us Die.” The single effortlessly blends the driving guitars and live drum feel of modern hard rock with the contemporary and instantly memorable hooks of modern pop. All with Crystal’s signature ethereal vocals and haunting lyrical subject matter.
“‘I’ll Never Let Us Die’ is about meeting someone and feeling an instant, strong connection to them, but not knowing why,” explains Crystal. ”As time goes on you start to become aware that there are some kind of feelings between you and that person, but there seems to be uncertainty, a feeling like something is always in the way and the timing has never felt right, but you know that these strange feelings haven’t gone away and might not.”
With the use of fantasy elements, Crystal Joilena brings forth a sound that transcends genres. As a solo artist, Crystal has an incredible knack for creating music that’s as gripping as it is hauntingly beautiful. Like ripping pages from her personal diary, her music delivers pieces of her soul, revealing her most vulnerable moments told through lyricality and dreamscapes.
Influenced by the likes of Sarah Brightman, Garbage, Depeche Mode, The Weeknd, and others, Crystal takes pieces of what inspires her and turns it on its head to create something intricate and distinctly hers. Crystal continues to break boundaries, genres, and her momentum is only growing stronger.
Along with the single, which was co-written and produced by Joakim Karlsson, Crystal plans on releasing a music video in the coming weeks and has an album set for release in the fall of 2021.
