Pushing Veronica Blaze a New Alt Rock Trail with “Carry the Flame”
Southern California quartet Pushing Veronica have unleashed their first single of 2021 in the form of “Carry the Flame.” The band is normally known for a lighthearted punk rock delivery, but with this latest alt rock offering, they take a post-millennial look at the world around them.
“‘Carry the Flame’ tells the story of a father and son who see life from two very different perspectives,” says vocalist/guitarist Oli Litner. “The father wants his son to carry on his legacy by taking advantage of others and making his fortune, while the son wants to stand up for what he believes is right, even if it means toppling the system.“
Directed by Paul Boyd (Neon Trees, Dead Mau5, Lenny Kravitz), the music video for “Carry The Flame” features highly energetic performances with, of course, plenty of pyrotechnics.
Formed in 2017, Pushing Veronica has played countless gigs around the US and have developed a diehard fan base after opening up for acts like Unwritten Law, The Ataris, Fuel, Like A Storm and more. A sold-out gig supporting Gemini Syndrome at the Whisky A Go-Go led to a production partnership with drummer and producer Brian Steele Medina, who invited the band to his Las Vegas studio to record and hone their sound.
“He encourages us to be as clever and eccentric as possible,” says bassist Noah Rozansky. “He’s raised the bar on everything we create,” guitartist/vocalist Julien Silvas adds, “When others have tried to dial us back or water us down, Brian encourages us to turn our personalities and authenticity up to 11!”
