Punk Trio The Carolyn Reflect on Bygone Days with Wistful New Single “Heartsunk”
Atlanta-based punk trio The Carolyn are revving up for the release of their debut full-length This Will Begin to Make Things Right on December 6th, but today you can hear the new single “Heartsunk.” Clocking in at under two minutes, vocalist Andrew Patrick uses the scrappy track to reflect on bygone days and the desire to relive some of the more raucous moments one more time.
“It was written about a transitional phase in my life in which I moved from the town I had been living in for 5 years,” says vocalist Patrick. “I had a close group of friends, but each of us slowly started to move on to bigger and better things, which entailed packing up and leaving. As much as change is necessary, this song is about trying to hold onto a time in your life that you’ll never get back.“
Much in the vein of punk elders The Menzingers, “Heartsunk” serves up a heaping dose of nostalgia with a driving melody and riotous hook. The Carolyn reminisce on good times, spinning small stories of all night partying and rough mornings into a largely relatable anthem.
This Will Begin to Make Things Right willl be released via 59 X Records on December 6th. Listen to “Heartsunk” now on Spotify.
