Kill Her First Deliver Robust Hardcore Track Ahead of New EP
Born from a lo-fi living room jam, German hardcore band Kill Her First has debuted their heavy and melodic new single “This Ain’t A Cherry-Picking Party.” The track is a no-compromise slap across the face and is the first single off their upcoming four track EP Empty Hands (out on December 3rd).
“This Ain’t A Cherry-Picking Party” marries aggressive spoken-word, shout style vocals with a melodic 2000s emo hook on top of blistering guitar riffs. Lyrically tackling the end of a dark period – vocalist Gero has woven in meaningful bits of biography and symbolism. “There is no rose without thorns” – not only a nod to their label KROD, but also to the two sides the world can take on as we walk through life. “We focused heavily on a tight rhythm section that rolls along stronger than ever, which you can especially hear in the breakdown,” says Gero.
Kill Her First has been through a lot. The band that was started by four women in the summer of 2007 has evolved and grown through several member changes and a shift in musical direction. The original aim of stirring up a predominantly male subgenre of post hardcore is still valid and today, the passion and vision of Kill Her First are alive as ever.
The band has shared the bill with Hawthorne Heights, Kittie, Thursday, Anberlin, Blackout Problems, Refused, Hot Water Music, Lagwagon, Anti Flag, Cancer Bats, Ignite, Blood Command and Walls of Jericho.
Kill Her First is Jana Calvi, Giulia Campagna, Gero Crocianelli, David Lütke and Sophie Schwalbe.
