Nu-Punk trio Lielack Release Debut Single “Nu4U

Earlier this summer, a video of a failed proposal at a Red Sox game went viral, appearing on InsiderYahooDaily Mail and many more. Today, it has been revealed that the proposal was actually staged to be used as the first scene for nu-punk band Lielack’s debut music video and single “Nu4U.”

The song opens with with a dreamy arpeggiated guitar over a bed of finger snaps and trap snares under Pascucci’s pleading vocals, before giving way to the full band. Lyrically, “Nu4U” is all about changing who you are every time you get into a new relationship. “I want to sell my soul for you/ I’ll be someone new for you, do you like me now?” Pascucci sings in the chorus. He says “It’s about wanting so badly to be accepted by the person you are into, that you are willing to become someone entirely different.

Following the PR stunt proposal, the video see Pascucci trying on new looks to appeal to his crush, only to be crushed time and time again. “The stunt just seemed like the perfect move,” says Pascucci. “We want to rep Worcester, MA, and they just got this new baseball team, and the rejection really worked with the plot of the video and song but we really didn’t think it would blow up as much as it did.

Hailing from Worcester, MA, Lielack was formed in 2020 by some members of the miserablaist-rock band Dearbones. Named after Pascucci’s wife’s favorite flower, the band decided to play with the spelling of the name to offer a deeper, more sinister theme. The high energy trio of Jason Pascucci on vocals, Andrew Quinn on guitar and Jacob Blondin on drums, pushes the pop-punk envelop even closer toward its own genre with their uncommon themes and blended musical motifs.
